EMS Training Programs
Paramedic Class 10 graduated on November 22, 2024 with 10 students. Simultaneous with the last quarter of Paramedic Class 10, the EMS Training Staff began the intensive planning and student selection process for Paramedic Class 11. Paramedic Class 11 is slated to begin on January 13, 2025 with 14 students and graduation in November of 2025. This course is an extremely challenging advanced college level academic program required for our employees to advance from an Emergency Medical Technician to a Paramedic. This training process is approximately 1,500 hours of classroom and clinical hours where students learn anatomy, pharmacology, cardiology, advanced emergency medical procedures, and invasive life saving techniques. Emergency medical care is an evidence-based practice which is constantly evolving, requiring recertification and training on new techniques and medical advancements to meet required National Standards. Frederick County implemented an internally created recertification training program for basic life support providers, ensuring the required skills and enhancements are delivered to our personnel. The training program meets state and national criteria and was modified to meet the training needs identified through the Divisions EMS Quality Assurance evaluations.
