VOLUNTEER FIRE & RESCUE SERVICES
Urbana Volunteer Fire Department placed into service a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe. The new Tahoe will be designated as Chief 23.
New Market District Volunteer Fire Company placed into service an additional ambulance to provide EMS response to the southern part of the county. Designated as Ambulance 158, the unit is a 2023 RAM 5500 Road Rescue Module.
Independent Hose Company purchased a new canteen to replace the aging Canteen 1. The unit is a 2023 Freightliner chassis with a 20’ box. The chassis is equipped with a vehicle leveling system and a 150AMP 40KW generator to power the entire unit. Kitchen equipment includes: a refrigerator, freezer, 4-burner stove, 24” grill, and two warming drawers. The cooking area has a full commercial grade hood and duct system. The interior is all stainless steel. The exterior has a self serve area for snacks, cold and hot drinks.
Thurmont Community Ambulance took delivery of an all-new 2024 Freightliner M2 Horton 623, high roof extended cab. This unit contains the new i4G+ electrical system, Cool-Tech cooling system, additional safety lighting and 360-degree views for video-based safety on the road and at the scene providing an aerial view of the ambulance. This unit was purchased by the volunteer's utilizing money generated by fundraising events. The purchase of Ambulance 308 would not have been possible without the support of their community.
Other apparatus purchased by Volunteer Fire and Rescue Corporations included Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company replacing their 1996 Ford F-350 Utility with a new 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500 and Guardian Hose Company purchased a 2020 F250 4x4 crew cab pick-up to replace both Utility 10 and Brush 106.
