Water Rescue incidents are mitigated by specially trained personnel and watercraft housed at Fire/Rescue Stations around the county. Water Rescue personnel respond to incidents in Frederick County, and neighboring Counties and States. This includes responses on the Monocacy and Potomac Rivers as well as responding to swift-water, flood, underwater, and ice related rescue events.

• Increased response capabilities through the acquisition of 3 additional Demaree Inflatable Boats (DIBs) including a 14’ rescue sled with newly purchased 40 HP Mercury Jet Motor and two 16’ Potomac’s . • 25% of the team members received advanced training and successfully completed Rescue 3 International’s Inland Rescue Swimmer course and Rescues from Vehicles in Water courses. • The team scheduled, coordinated, and conducted several multi jurisdictional trainings and drills throughout the year. This venture has notably improved relations and interoperability with our mutual aid partners in Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.
