Behavioral Health Program (continued)
• Assisted with hiring a new Emergency Management Behavioral Health Coordinator. Collaborated with the EM BHC on education, program development, and clinical services. • Provided support to Emergency Management during a second hiring process for a new BHC. Consulted with peer support team members, created and delivered peer team training, and provided clinical services as needed. • Onboarded an MSW Graduate Intern from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work, who worked with the program from July 2023 to July 2024. Welcomed a new graduate intern in August 2024. • Continued to expand resource/referral list that includes vetted clinicians who are culturally competent, work with county insurance plans, and have the flexibility to meet the scheduling demands of our personnel. • Developed and delivered training to Recruit classes on stress management, healthy coping, and other critical behavioral health topics. • Collaborated with other Public Safety agencies on developing peer support teams and delivered education on behavioral health topics. • Provide clinical consultation and oversight to the DFRS and EM Peer Support Teams. • Developed and delivered training for quarterly Peer Support Team meetings on topics including suicide awareness, critical incident response, post-traumatic stress, healthy coping skills, and communication skills. • Collaborated with BHC and DFRS leadership to create a new Peer Support Team policy and abolished an older Critical Incident Stress Management policy. • Conducted station visits to raise awareness of the behavioral health program and peer support team and provided education on sleep, stress reactions, and healthy coping. • Participated in ride-alongs. • Coordinated Harbor of Grace and the Center of Excellence. • Assisted Loudoun County Fire and Rescue in a LODD response. • Established DMV Regional Behavioral Health Coordinators Group. Participated in quarterly meetings. • Completed the following trainings/conferences: o Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Completed 40 hours of clinical training. o First Responder Health and Wellness Conference o DCJS' 2024 First Responder Wellness Conference o Science to the Station
