Behavioral Health Program (continued)

Peer Support Team Highlights

30 trained members of the PST

• Conducted peer contacts and follow ups. • Completed 2-day IAFF peer support training held in April 2022. • Conducted station visits to raise awareness of the behavioral health program, peer support team, and provide education. • Participated in quarterly trainings on a variety of topics including suicide awareness, motivation interviewing, the impact of trauma, coping and behavioral health awareness. • Collaborated with BHC and DFRS leadership to update Peer Support Team Policy.

Moving Forward

The DFRS Behavioral Health Program and the combined efforts of the Peer Support Team and BHC have made an important impact towards ensuring a healthy workforce, and there is certainly more to do. Moving forward, the Behavioral Health Program will focus on: • Creating more opportunities for education and outreach. • Continuing to address stigma around behavioral health. • Increasing visibility and outreach for families.
