On June 19, 2022, at 02:54, Ambulance 307 and Medic 30 were dispatched to a single-family residence for an obstetric patient.

Ambulance 307 and Medic 30 arrived on scene to find an adult female at the residence having contractions that were two minutes apart lasting for 45 seconds. The patient was assisted to the stair chair and extricated from the residence. The patient was then moved to the stretcher and transferred to the ambulance. The ambulance began transport to Frederick Health Hospital while Firefighter Kristoff prepared items for delivery. Upon the ambulance arriving at Frederick Health Hospital the patient had an intense contraction with the baby’s head visible through the amniotic sac. Paramedic Kelch ruptured the amniotic sac and the baby’s head delivered with the shoulders to follow. The baby was dried off and wrapped in blankets. The umbilical cord was clamped, and dad cut the cord. Then, the baby was given to the mother to be placed on her chest for skin-to-skin contact.

The mother and baby were transferred to Emergency Department and met by the Labor and Delivery team. The mother and the baby are all doing well.
