VOLUNTEER FIRE & RESCUE SERVICES

Accomplishments

• DVFRS assisted in many special events this year. Volunteer members were able to support and assist with personnel, apparatus, and equipment to The Great Frederick Fair, Colorfest, Running Festival, July 4 th Celebrations, High School football games, FONDO, Touch-A-Truck and many local community and sporting events.

• Standards inspections, pump and ladder testing completed on all apparatus.

FY22 Fire and Rescue Accreditation.

• Personal Protective Equipment Voucher Program for Volunteer Fire, Rescue and Ambulance Companies distributed 114 sets of new Protective Clothing.

• Continued work on CIP building projects.

• Volunteer training records and enhancements were improved in the database during the Accreditation process. • Volunteer records management and training module enhancements were improved this year. This is a comprehensive membership database managed by the division which accounts for volunteer participation in incidents and activity. The information is used for LOSAP, income tax benefits, worker’s compensation recording, training, and the annual fire/rescue accreditation pr ocess.

Annual Compliance Training.

• DVFRS conducted two Live Fire Training Days at the PSTF with multiple company participation.

• Purchased 30 new APX-4000 radios for Fire Police.

• Volunteer Fingerprinting and Criminal Background Checks policy introduced will require all new volunteer members who apply for membership with a fire, rescue, emergency medical service company and/or employment in the Division of Fire and Rescue Services in Frederick County to complete a criminal history records check.

• Managed APS Firehouse Alerting program.

• Ensure records management compliance on Image Trend Fire reports.

• Assisted with Structure Fire Policy Updates/ IC Policy Revision and training

• Risk Management launched the Driver Authorization Notification System used for new driver requests. Volunteer Services was involved in recertifying information on current drivers on the County Authorized Drivers list.
