Jamontrez Williams

On June 25, 2021, units from Walkersville were dispatched to 205 Braeburn Drive for a pediatric decreased level of consciousness. While en route it became apparent that the incident was the result of a drowning. Prior to 911 being activated Jamontrez Williams overheard the commotion near the pool and went to investigate. He immediately noticed a teenage girl face down and submerged at the bottom of the pool, her body lifeless. With numerous other people standing by unwilling or unsure of how to help, Jamontrez jumped into the pool and retrieved the girl from the bottom. After single handedly rescuing her from the pool his training and experience as a volunteer took over and he initiated CPR. Shortly thereafter the patient began to respond and upon the arrival of the EMS units the patient was conscious and alert sitting outside of the pool. She was taken via ambulance to a landing zone where she was flown to Johns Hopkins Pediatrics for further medical treatment. Had it not been for Jamontrez Williams performing the rescue of the teenage girl and initiating CPR prior to the arrival of EMS units, she certainly would not have had such a positive outcome .
