On May 20th, 2021, units were dispatched to a pediatric arrest in the Middletown area. Upon arriving, the first units were handed a lifeless child by a FCSO Deputy running out of the house. They immediately began CPR on the child and advised ECC of a working arrest. The crew, being familiar with the residence and previous responses, chose to give the patient a medication that would not normally be indicated in a pediatric cardiac arrest. Shortly after the administration of Narcan, the patient began to respond, and ROSC was achieved. Aviation was requested and the child was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital by Maryland State Police Trooper 3. The child was subsequently released to home neurologically intact and with no known deficit.

Without the quick response to the scene, the administration of life saving medications, and the thorough care provided this child would have likely had a much worse outcome.
