Special Operations 2021

The Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services’ Special Operations Programs include a number of different specialty response programs. These programs typically require the use of specially trained personnel and specialized equipment to complete the mission. Our Special Operations programs include:

The Hazardous Incident Response Team or “Haz - Mat” Team respond to various types of chemical, biological and radiological incidents. In addition to Hazardous Materials responses, hazardous materials technicians are also certified in and respond to Confined Space Rescue incidents.

Frederick County’s Technical Rescue Team responds on a variety of unique incidents that include high angle (rope) rescues, building collapse, trench collapse, confined space rescues and mountain/trail rescues.
